CityU, BLCU sign agreement to deepen cooperation for future development


 

A delegation from Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) led by Ni Haidong, party secretary of BLCU, visited City University of Macau (CityU) and was received by Rector Jun Liu. The two sides officially signed a student exchange agreement, laying a solid foundation for ongoing cooperation between the two universities. The two sides held fruitful discussions on various topics, including country studies, joint development of Confucius Institutes, cross-disciplinary integration of language and disciplines, language resources and services, and collaborative development in the area of health and wellness. 

Rector Jun Liu warmly welcomed Party Secretary Ni Haidong and his delegation at the meeting, emphasizing the friendly foundation for cooperation between the two universities. He proposed that the two universities would leverage their regional and disciplinary advantages, starting with Portuguese-speaking countries to enhance project cooperation, and promote the development of cross-disciplinary integration of “language + discipline.” Additionally, he highlighted the cultivation of master’s and doctoral-level talents in future cooperation. 

Party Secretary Ni Haidong noted the friendly partnership between the two universities and provided an overview of the close cooperative relationship over the years, highlighting the continuous deepening of project cooperation. He provided a detailed overview of the new progress and achievements of BLCU in terms of discipline development, the construction of the sinologist center, the development plan for the new campus, and international cooperation and exchanges. He expressed hope that these achievements would inject new vitality and momentum into future cooperation between the two sides. 

 

 

 

Looking ahead, both sides expressed their firm willingness and confidence in cooperation. They will leverage the advantages of both universities to create a powerful synergy, jointly promote overseas exchanges and collaboration, strengthen ties and cooperation with regions such as Portuguese-speaking countries, and work together to expand a space for broader international cooperation. Additionally, they will actively respond to the national development strategy, support the construction and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and contribute the wisdom of higher education institutions to the prosperity of the regional economy and social development.
