On 24th June, Mr. Virgílio da Costa Hornai, President of Commission F of the National Parliament of Timor-Leste, and delegation visited CityU in the company of Dr. Danilo Afonso-Henriques, Representative of Timor-Leste of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), They are warmly received by our university leaders including Prof. Shu Guang Zhang, Rector ; Dr. Sean Li, Academic Registrar; Dr. Yueng Wah Khong, Executive Associate Dean of Faculty of Business; and Professor Rui Manuel de Sousa Rocha, Director of Department of Portuguese Language and Culture of the Portuguese Speaking Countries.

The conversation was carried out in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. During the meeting, Rector Zhang and Academic Registrar Li introduced the history, curriculum design as well as current developmental situation about CityU. Rector Zhang also addressed the university has placed strong emphasis and effort in developing international education and exchange in recent years, the visit of the delegation provide a chance to have initial communication for setting up cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries. It is hoped that there will be more students from Timor-Leste studying in our university, strengthening the bridging role of Macau in the Belt and Road Initiative and facilitating the cultural exchange amongst China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.
