CityU and Beijing Language and Culture University to establish a center for Chinese-language education and cultural exchange for Portuguese-speaking countries


                                               

 

To strengthen the cultivation of Chinese-language talents and promote the quality development of Chinese education in Portuguese-speaking countries, Prof. Jun Liu, Rector of the City University of Macau (CityU), led a delegation to visit Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) today (8) and was warmly received by Prof. Liu Li, President of BLCU. At the meeting, both sides discussed and exchanged views on joint education programs and talent cultivation, education and teaching exchanges, and strengthening people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Both sides expressed hope for future cooperation. CityU Vice Rector Chee Seong Chin, and Zhang Baojun, BLCU Vice President attended the meeting.

 

                                             

 

During the ceremony, Rector Jun Liu and President Liu Li signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of the two universities to establish a center for Chinese- language education and cultural exchanges to jointly advance the quality development of Chinese-language education in Portuguese-speaking countries and facilitate people-to-people and cultural exchanges at different levels, and foster appreciation of diverse civilizations.

 

By maximizing their strengths in language and cultural education, both universities will develop the center by carrying out research projects and academic activities for Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries in the areas of country studies, language and cultural education. Under the partnership, the two universities aim to enrich Chinese language education resources, offer training for Chinese language teachers, and jointly cultivate multilevel talents proficient in Chinese.

Leaders, management members and executives from Beijing Language and Culture University and the City University of Macau also took part in the meeting.
