A delegation led by Party Secretary Cheng Jianping of Beijing Normal University (BNU) visited City University of Macau (CityU) and was warmly received by Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei yesterday. The delegation toured the campus and the China-Portugal Joint Laboratory of Cultural Heritage Conservation Science to learn about the facilities and operations. CityU council members Cintia Chan and Sandy Chan accompanied the delegation.

During the visit, Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei guided Party Secretary Cheng and his delegation to visit the different functional areas of the laboratory and introduced the university’s efforts to continuously improve its disciplinary construction in response to social development needs and its achievements. Party Secretary Cheng showed great interest in the laboratory’s research instruments, precious collections, and ongoing projects, and expressed his affirmation of the research achievements. Both parties hope to strengthen communication, expand cooperation areas, and leverage their respective strengths to promote the development of higher education in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and between Beijing and Macao.

Participants in the visit included Professor Qiao Bocheng from BNU’s China Institute of Education and Social Development, Wu Hanfeng, director of the President’s Office, Li Shenglan, secretary-general of the Education Foundation, Fan Wenxia, secretary-general of the Alumni Association of Beijing Normal University. Other attendees from CityU included Executive Associate Dean Wang Po Hsun from the Faculty of Innovation and Design, and Che Ka I, director of Rector’s Office.
