Under the support and guidance of the Macao SAR Government Education and Youth Development Bureau, Shim Boon Haw, head of the Student Affairs Department of the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong), led a delegation of representatives from Malaysian Chinese independent schools to visit the City University of Macau (CityU) today to further promote educational and cultural exchanges between Malaysia and Macao. They were warmly welcomed by Rector Jun Liu, and had the opportunity to visit the campus and teaching facilities, and experience the university’s intelligent and diverse educational environment. During the visit, discussions were held on topics such as studying abroad, student and teacher exchanges, academic cooperation, and teacher training. CityU Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei and Pro-Rector Chan Chon Pat also participated in the meeting.

Rector Jun Liu extended a warm welcome to the delegation of Dong Zong and representatives from Malaysian Chinese independent schools, and gave an introduction to the history and achievements of higher education in Macao. He also shared CityU’s accomplishments and future development direction in terms of institutional development, curriculum features, and international exchanges. He expressed that CityU has established a close cooperation relationship with Dong Zong and hopes to continue this collaboration in order to attract more outstanding Malaysian students to study at CityU and help them gain a better understanding of Macao's culture and experience the university's distinct international teaching style. Additionally, he hopes to expand cooperation with Malaysian schools in terms of teacher and student exchanges, short-term visits, teacher training, and academic exchanges through this exchange.

Head Shim Boon Haw expressed that through this visit, they have gained a deeper understanding of Macao’s higher education development and CityU’s distinctive educational characteristics. They hope to see more Malaysian students have the opportunity to study at CityU, as Macao’s higher education has developed rapidly in recent years. He also mentioned that CityU has a clear focus on big data and artificial intelligence, and has invested a lot of resources to support students in innovation and entrepreneurship, laying a solid foundation for their future development. Malaysian schools also encourage students to learn and innovate, and with a shared vision, they hope to see more cooperation in the field of technology, such as exchange programs and international competitions, as well as teacher training and student activities.

Subsequently, the delegation had in-depth discussions and exchanges on issues such as further education, student activities, teacher and student exchanges, academic exchanges, and entrepreneurship and employment.
