On 12th January, Universidade da Paz(UNPAZ)'s Rector Dr. Lucas da Costa, Vice Rector Dominggos Cairesi Bendito Bere Mau Gomes, Director of Administration and Finance Department Mr. Samuel Talo Bere Soares, Minister of International Affairs Mr. Miguel Lucas Lay Costa, accompanied by Danilo Henriques, Representative of East Timor in Macau visited CityU, for collorative proposals and MoU signing ceremony. Our Rector Prof. Shuguang Zhang, Academic Registrar Dr. Sean Li, and  Executive Dean of Faculty of International Tourism and Management Dr. Gavin Chau, warmly received the guests.

UNPAZ, a young private university founded in 2004 with 13,000 students, located in Dili, the capital city of the Portuguese-speaking background country - Timor Leste. UNPAZ's Rector Dr. Costa expressed that UNPAZ has paid a special visit to CityU for signing a Memorandum of Understanding with our Rector, at the same time, they are here to explore more cooperation projects with CityU. Dr. Costa stated that UNPAZ's college principle is to cultivate excellent talents for Timor Leste, especially within teaching Chinese language and culture, hence UNPAZ has employed experts and scholars within the speciazlised field and whom also previously studied in China to lecture their students in Chinese related courses.

Rector Prof. Shuguang Zhang expressed his welcome to Dr. Costa and his team, he has mapped a detailed plan for the cooperation projects between the two universities during the meeting. Prof. Zhang suggests that exchange of students will be the beginning of the collaboration.  Dr. Costa conveyed his deep gratitude to Prof. Zhang for his warm reception and his support for UNPAZ's trip to Macau, he also stated that UNPAZ will actively engaging in the future developments of more intercollegiate exchanges with CityU.
