The City University of Macau (CityU) successfully concluded the opening ceremony of the Global Summer Institute (GSI) for its inaugural GSI program on the Taipa Campus. Following the ceremony, Rector Jun Liu delivered a thought-provoking lecture titled “Design Your Future Success,” sharing his profound insights and philosophical reflections on growth, choices, and success. Through captivating stories and vivid personal experiences, he shared valuable lessons from his academic and career journeys, offering numerous inspiring words of wisdom. He encouraged students to fully tap into their potential and strive for greatness.

In his lecture, Rector Liu began by asking, “What is potential?” He then delved into the seven cornerstones that drive the development of individual potential: energy, emotion, thinking, people, creativity, production, and leadership. He highlighted the synergies of these elements in forming the pillars of success. He further revealed that the secret to success lies in the harmonious combination of ambition, curiosity, confidence, courage, action, perseverance, ability, enthusiasm, intelligence, and opportunity. The lecture was filled with engaging moments as Rector Liu interacted with the students, sparking their reflections on personal development and growth potential with his insightful observations and practical advice.

During the interactive session, Rector Liu answered students’ questions on various topics, including life planning, goal setting, self-discipline, and balancing work and study. His approachable demeanor and insightful responses earned him rounds of applause and widespread praise from the students. Faculty of Innovation and Design (FIAD) Executive Associate Dean Wang Po Hsun and Faculty of Health and Wellness (FHW) Academic Leader Sun Pei also engaged in warm interactions with the students. They answered their inquiries patiently and solved their puzzles. As the first lecture of the GSI program, the event was filled with a lively atmosphere and active exchanges. It not only added a vibrant touch to the program’s opening but also allowed each student to experience the power of growth and the boundless possibilities of the future.
