CityU, NUFE sign agreement to deepen inter-university collaboration


 

A delegation from Nanjing University of Finance and Economics (NUFE) led by President Cheng Yongbo visited CityU recently and was warmly greeted by Rector Jun Liu. Subsequently, the two sides signed a memorandum of cooperation, which laid a solid groundwork for further collaboration in the fields of finance and economics.

The delegation toured around the campus as well as the teaching facilities. Meanwhile, both sides delved deep into discussions on topics including talent cultivation, research cooperation, and student exchange programs.

Rector Jun Liu gave a warm welcome to the delegation from NUFE and introduced the CityU’s history and accomplishments in aspects of discipline development, faculty members, international exchanges, and the industry-academia collaboration. In line with Macao’s long-term positioning of “One Center, One Platform, and One Base,” Rector Jun Liu shared CityU’s future development plans and aspirations.

President Cheng Yongbo gave an overview of NUFE, its industry-university-research cooperation initiatives, and the development of finance discipline. President Cheng expressed hope for more cooperation with CityU in fields such as finance, art design, and law as a result of this visit.

During the meeting, both sides had in-depth exchanges regarding the prospects of cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation, faculty exchanges, and scientific research advancement. It was hoped to implement the cooperation as soon as possible to boost the high-quality development of talents in the financial and economic sectors in both Nanjing and Macao.

Other attendees from NUFE include Han Lizheng, head of the Student Affairs Office; Yang Zhihua, director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office and dean of the Massey Institute; Yu Yongze, dean of the School of International Economics and Trade; and Liu Xiaofeng, vice dean of the School of Economics. CityU members at the meeting included Adrian Wai Kong Cheung, dean of the Faculty of Finance; Eva Yueng Wah Khong, associate dean of the Faculty of Finance; Che Ka I, director of the Rector's Office; and Wu Cheng, director of the Office of Global Affairs.
