
Prof. Iain Martin, vice-chancellor of Deakin University, along with John Molony, pro vice-chancellor (international), recently visited City University of Macau (CityU), where they were warmly welcomed by Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei. Both parties signed the framework agreement for the dual bachelor’s degree program between the two universities and initiated collaboration on program offerings between the Faculty of Data Science at City University and the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment at Deakin University. This partnership opens up new international learning opportunities and further education pathways for students.
Additionally, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as talent development, academic research, joint programs, and faculty-student exchanges, marking the beginning of a new chapter in substantial cooperation between the two universities.

Prof. Iain Martin shared Deakin University’s disciplinary strengths and experiences in international development, saying that Deakin University has a 51-year history and is ranked between 200 and 300 in the QS World University Rankings 2025. The university is renowned for its high-quality teaching and research, especially excelling in health, education, data science, and business. He expressed wishes to establish closer ties and collaboration between the two universities in terms of research fellows and student exchanges in the future.

Other CityU members attended this discussion included Adrian Cheung Wai Keung, dean of the Faculty of Finance; Liu Wenjian, associate dean (teaching and learning) of FDS; Paulo Esperança, professor at the Faculty of Business; Zhong Xiang, assistant professor at FDS; and Wu Cheng, head of the Office of Global Affairs.
