A delegation led by Lv Zhiguo, deputy party secretary and president of Hainan Tropical Ocean University (HTOU), led a delegation to visit City University of Macau (CityU) and was received by Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei. The two sides had in-depth discussions on the talent cultivation and faculty-student exchanges, laying a good foundation for future cooperation.

Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei warmly welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced CityU in terms of its development history, disciplinary characteristics and research achievements. He emphasized CityU’s educational philosophy of “Macao’s Characteristics, China’s Soul, Global Vision” and its robust interdisciplinary development in data science, fintech and health and wellness. He expressed the expectation that the two universities would actively carry out exchanges between faculty and students, research cooperation, jointly build a sustainable platform for both sides.

President Lv Zhiguo expressed gratitude for CityU’s hospitality and introduced HOTU’s educational features and disciplinary advantages, drawing on Hainan’s geographical location, culture and policies. He pointed out that digital ocean is an important development direction in the future, and looking forward to substantive cooperation with CityU in data science, humanities and social science, business and economics, tourism management, education and other fields, facilitating resource sharing and talent cultivation between the two universities.

Go forward, the two universities will continue deepening the cooperation in students cultivation, faculty-student exchange and short-term academic program jointly cultivating high-quality professionals for regional and national development.

Other participants attended the meeting included Guan Hua, deputy director of the Office of HTOU and Guo Leting, deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Office; Sun Xin, professor at Faculty of Data Science of CityU, and Wu Cheng, head of the Office of Global Affairs, were also present.
