Hebei higher education delegation visits CityU to strengthen educational cooperation and exchanges


The Hebei higher education delegation led by Sun Fuqiang, deputy director of Hebei Education Department, visited City University of Macau (CityU) recently. Vice Rector Ip Kuai Peng warmly welcomed the group. During the visit, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as talent cultivation, research collaboration, and student-faculty exchanges. These discussions are expected to lay a solid foundation for future cooperation between the institutions.

Vice Rector Ip Kuai Peng warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced CityU in terms of its development history, academic characteristics, and research achievements. He emphasized that the University is committed to promoting friendly ties with universities in Hebei province under the implementation of the “one country, two systems” principle and its educational philosophy of “Macao’s Characteristics, China’s Soul, Global Vision”.

 

Vice Rector Ip expressed his hope for more faculty and student exchanges and research collaborations with outstanding institutions in Hebei, aiming to establish a sustainable cooperation platform.

Delegation lead Sun Fuqiang highlighted Hebei advantages in geography, culture, and economic industries. He emphasized the province’s strong commitment to educational exchanges and cooperation, expressing a desire to engage in deeper discussions with CityU. Sun also hoped to promote the establishment of friendly inter-university partnerships between more institutions in Hebei and CityU, aiming for closer collaboration.

Li Xiaohua, party secretary of Hebei University of Economics and Business (HUEB), expressed a desire to foster closer collaboration and exchanges between the university’s College of Economics, College of Law, and College of Tourism with City University of Macau. Zhang Yanbo, president of North China Institute of Science and Technology (NCUST), shared the institution’s unique educational characteristics and expressed strong interest in CityU’s experiential, international, and cross-cultural learning approaches, hoping to enhance faculty training exchanges. Additionally, Ji Lihuai, deputy party secretary of Shijiazhuang University, provided an overview of the school’s development and expressed a wish to establish cooperation with CityU in postgraduate cultivation and student exchanges.

He further mentioned his hope to promote collaboration between CityU and universities in Hebei in fields such as law, economics, tourism, artificial intelligence, and health. This initiative aims to provide more opportunities for Macao students to engage in short-term exchanges and gain a deeper understanding of Hebei’s rich cultural heritage, actively integrating into national development.

Attendees at the meeting included Wang Hongwei, director of the Student Affairs Office at the Hebei Education Department; Hu Haitao, dean of the HUEB College of Law; Zhang Aihua, director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center and dean of the International Exchange College at Shijiazhuang University; Shen Zhiyong, NCUST deputy director of the International Cooperation Office; and Yuan Huafei, director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center at Shijiazhuang University. From City University of Macau, participants included Associate Professor Zhou Long and Assistant Professor Yan Yu from the Institute of Urban and Sustainable Development, as well as Lewis Chao Chan Chong, head of the Student Affairs Office.
