The City University of Macau (CityU) continues to drive internationalization and high-quality development. In the latest QS Stars rating released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a globally recognized higher education evaluation agency, CityU has been awarded the distinction of “5-Star Institution” in the QS Stars rating system. This accolade signifies that the University has achieved high-level international standards in core areas such as teaching, employability, facilities, and internationalization, serving as comprehensive recognition from an authoritative international higher education body of the University’s academic and operational strengths.

QS Stars is another authoritative rating system by QS, distinct from its university rankings. It objectively evaluates a university’s performance across various dimensions, including teaching, research, employability, internationalization, and facilities. To date, nearly a thousand higher education institutions from over 70 countries and regions have participated in the QS Stars rating, of which 168 universities have received 5-Star certification. These include world-renowned institutions such as the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the University of Bristol (UK), and Pennsylvania State University (USA).

In this rating, CityU not only achieved an overall “5-Star” rating but also earned a “5-Star” distinction in multiple key categories, including Teaching, Global Engagement, Employability, Facilities, and Academic Development. Furthermore, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme also received a “5-Star” rating, fully demonstrating CityU’s outstanding level of excellence in the development and construction of its key academic disciplines.

Achieving the QS “5-Star Institution” rating reflects the high level of recognition from the international higher education community for CityU’s educational philosophy and practices. It embodies the collective efforts of all faculty, staff, students, and alumni over many years and highlights the University’s continuous dedication and steadfast commitment to educational innovation, research investment, and social service. Looking ahead, this honor not only serves as strong affirmation of past efforts but will also serve as a solid foundation for CityU to strive towards even higher goals. The University will take this as a new starting point to continue deepening the substance of its teaching and research, dedicated to cultivating outstanding talents with a global vision and social responsibility, and to contributing deeper wisdom and greater influence to higher education in Macao and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
