CityU Delegation Attended the 50th Anniversary of Kaohsiung Normal University and Visited Pingtung University and I-Shou University


From November 4 to 6, CityU Registrar and Dean of Faculty of Education Prof. Li Shuying and Deputy Director of Institute of Macau Education Development Prof. Lee Sungyi were invited to attend the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Taiwan Kaohsiung Normal University, our partner university. Prof. Li Shuying, on behalf of CityU, presented a souvenir to Kaohsiung Normal University.

Prof. Li Shuying and Prof. Lee Sungyi took part in the celebration activities, and attended the Forum on Curriculum Reform and Teaching Innovation in Teacher Education. 85 university leaders and education scholars from nearly 35 normal universities in China, Hong Kong S.A.R, Macao S.A.R. and Malaysia attended the forum.

Prof. Li Shuying delivered a presentation entitled "Universities in the Future and the Future of Universities: An International Perspective on the Development of Universities" at the forum. At the Symposium on the "Global Perspective for Teachers Education", CityU representatives exchanged research findings with scholars from other universities and discussed the ways to cope with the challenges of teachers’ training in the context of globalization and the rapid development of science and technology nowadays.

During the visit in Kaohsiung, Prof. Li Shuying and Prof. Lee Sungyi were also invited to visit Pingtung University. During the meeting, both parties introduced the history, current situation and development prospects of the two universities and discussed possible future  cooperation. The two universities have signed a Memorandum of Academic Exchange, which is the foundation for further cooperation in the exchange of visits between faculty members and students.

On November 6, Prof. Li Shuying was invited by the Honorary President Fu Shen-Li to visit I-Shou University. President Fu Shen-Li expressed a warm welcome to CityU delegation. Both universities communicated on their respective running conditions and had a friendly discussion on the relevant issues for future cooperation.

Through the visit to the three universities in Taiwan, CityU hopes that the collaboration in tertiary education between Macau S.A.R. and Taiwan will be further advocated to enhance the cooperation for both parties.
