The City University of Macau (CityU) recently hosted the second semester exchange student orientation for the 2023/2024 academic year at the Cultural Centre, Taipa Campus. The event, organized by the Office of Global Affairs (OGA), featured incoming exchange students from mainland Chinese universities and outgoing exchange students from CityU sharing their valuable learning experiences. Representatives from OGA, the Student Affairs Office, and the Students’ Association also attended the meeting.

Rector Jun Liu warmly welcomed all exchange students through a video message and encouraged them to make the most of their exchange studies by opening themselves up to new life experiences and learning opportunities. He also encouraged students to actively participate in exchange programs and expressed his best wishes for their future endeavors.

The orientation was conducted in a joyful atmosphere, with the Director of the Office of Global Affairs, Daryl Yang, welcoming incoming and outgoing exchange students. Students were invited to share their thoughts on exchange learning and were encouraged to approach their experiences with an open mind, fully engaging their senses to immerse themselves in the cultural charm of Macao and their exchange cities. At the same time, students were encouraged to understand the significance of exchange learning, make full use of CityU’s learning resources, and hold onto their beliefs and dreams while getting to know themselves and understanding the world.

Representatives from the Student Affairs Office, Gao Jialin and Fong Ip Tang, introduced the regular services of the office and encouraged the exchange students to actively participate in the upcoming activities. Lu Hongyu, director-general of the Students’ Association, and vice director-general, Ye Muxi, shared the diverse activities that will be carried out by the affiliated student societies and encouraged the exchange students to actively participate and integrate into the campus culture. They also shared their learning experiences from different angles, such as daily life, coursework, campus environment, and the city’s scenery. Mainland exchange students expressed that Macao is an inclusive, positive, warm, and charming city, and they are looking forward to spending a fulfilling and meaningful exchange time in the city.

This semester, CityU has continued to carry out semester exchange programs with several partner universities, including Xiamen University, Wuhan University, East China Normal University, Soochow University, Shanghai University, Hainan University, Shenzhen University, Guangzhou University, Beijing International Studies University, Xiangtan University, Guangxi Normal University, and the University of Coimbra in Portugal. Going forward, CityU will continue to expand opportunities for students to engage in exchange studies and learn with universities in more countries and regions, providing a more diverse learning experience.
