Pembroke College, University of Cambridge - Semester Programmes 2024

 

Introduction

 

Pembroke is the third-oldest college of the University of Cambridge and has over 700 hundred students and teachers. Recognized as the one of the institutes with top academic performance around the world, Pembroke is also the only Cambridge college to have an International Programmes Department, providing opportunities for international students to spend a semester or part of the summer in Cambridge.

 

Applications for the Fall Semester Programme 2024 are now open. The Programme runs from September 8 to December 14, 2024. Joining the Pembroke Semester Programme at the University of Cambridge is a highly coveted opportunity for students seeking a unique academic and cultural experience.

 

 

Application

 

Basic requirement for applicants:

  1. Applicants should have completed at least two years of study at City University of Macau before starting the semester at Cambridge
  2. A cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 is required
  3. Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential, meeting specific language requirements: 1) IELTS Academic: A minimum overall grade of 7.5, with 7.0 or above in each element. 2) TOEFL Internet Based Test (IBT): A minimum overall score of 110, with 25 or above in each element.
  4. Applicants should have recognized academic excellence in the relevant field. Applicants should also have strong communication and adaptability skills to cope with the pressures and cultural differences associated with studying at a top university abroad.

 

 

Course Information:

 

  1. The Semester Programme focus on in-depth courses in your major subject area.
  2. Students can apply for one or two subjects from a given list, including Linguistics, Economics, English, Mathematics, Philosophy and more.
  3. The academic approach includes lectures, seminars, and a unique supervision system where students will receive one-on-one guidance from experts in related field.
  4. Student won't take regular university exams but will be assessed through college exams and coursework.

Programme Fees (Fall Semester 2024)

 

Programme Deposit: £3,187 (or £1,500 if applicant receive financial aid).

University Fee: £8,578, covering matriculation, library access, and more.

Programme Fee: £19,849, inclusive of tuition, academic support, and various benefits.

Housing Fee: £3,444, covering accommodation for 14 weeks.

The basic total fees are £35,058.

 

*For the students who apply for Mathematics subject, higher university fee will be charged (£9,568)

*Students will also need to pay a refundable caution deposit of £350 and a linen deposit of £50. These will be refunded after the end of the programme providing that your accommodation is left in good condition.

 

 

The Semester Experience

 

  1. Participant will be a member of both Pembroke College and the University of Cambridge, with access to various college and university services.
  2. Students have the chance to engage in extracurricular activities, from sports to music, to complement their academic experience.
  3. Pembroke College offers personal support with Directors of Studies and Tutors.
  4. Students will enjoy a unique social life within the close-knit student community.

During the selection process, the Office of Global Affairs will comprehensively consider the applicant's academic performance, interview performance, and previous experience in relevant activities. Under the same conditions, priority will be given to students who have never participated in a Global Affairs Office project.
