Prof. Jun Liu, president of The International Research Foundation for English Language Education (TIRF) and rector of City University of Macau (CityU), recently attended the “Opportunities and Challenges of Teaching English in China in the Digital Era in the Context of International People-to-People Exchange – Chongqing Assembly 2024.” This assembly was organized by TIRF, the Service Consortium of Chongqing for International People-to-People Exchange, and the Chongqing High-tech Zone Education Affairs Center. During his keynote speech, Rector Liu discussed the opportunities and challenges of English education from a macro perspective and the role of English teachers, as well as the impact of online customized learning on traditional classroom education. He also participated in a panel discussion to further explore English education in the digital era and promote internationalization of elementary education in Chongqing and Sichuan, the development of digital campuses, and the improvement of teachers' digital literacy and talent cultivation.
Rector Jun Liu also visited the Sichuan International Studies University during his trip and was welcomed by President Dong Hongchuan. The two sides held a meeting to discuss talent cultivation and cultural exchanges.
